Hi There

Shop of the Week Woolies Gel EyeLiner Pencils

Shop of the Week Woolies Gel EyeLiner Pencils

I heard about these pencils from one of the girls in my makeup class and am now totally hooked! I used to swear by MAC Graphblack retractable eyeliner because it was a solid, solid black. But, after mine broke without even being half used, I did’nt want to spend money on buying the same one again. I much prefer a pencil that you can sharpen as apposed to a retractable pencil, but hadn’t found any that offered such an intense black. I was so glad to hear about Woolworths’ Gel EyeLiner pencil and even more stoked to discover that it comes in different shades. I bought myself a black one and a golden one called blonde. The black is my absolute fave! It goes on really black and doesn’t smudge all day long.  The pencil tip is super soft, so you only need to press very gently to get maximum lines!  I’ve been using it just about every day, and it’s definitely one of those products that will go into my professional makeup kit (one of these days). The best part… each one costs R75.00, so it makes my Shop of the Week today.

Confessions of a Beauty Girl – Eloise Dreyer

Confessions of a Beauty Girl – Eloise Dreyer

Today’s beauty confession comes from celebrity makeup artist and blogger, @eloisemakeup – Eloise Dreyer. How did you get started in the beauty industry? It never started at a certain point for me. It’s always been there. It’s as natural as breathing to me. It manifested though when my mother taught me to always look after my skin no matter what and that I should feel pretty for myself, no one else. What’s the best thing about your job? I get to learn about the most amazing advances in skin care technology, sample fragrances, play with colour when it comes to cosmetics, see the radiant faces of my models and clients after I’ve worked on them and make friends with like-minded people. My creativity is never curbed, frowned upon or laughed at. I love being creative and sharing it. What’s the most common questions girls ask you when they find out what you do? “How I got into the industry?” “How I get to be so sought after by clients and brands?” “How to do certain applications in makeup?” “What my beauty closet looks like?” – Eloise, we’d love to see that closet! What was the last beauty item you purchased?…

Confessions of a Beauty Girl – Kim Gray

Confessions of a Beauty Girl – Kim Gray

Today’s beauty confession is from @KimGray, one of my oldest blogging buddies… How did you first get started in the beauty industry? Being a stylist in the fashion industry, I noticed that girls always gravitate to the make up artist make-up box, and quickly realized that girls love to to know what the latest and greatest products are and other peoples opinions on them. And so I added beauty reviews to my blog, along side the fashion and design content. What’s the best thing about your job? Testing out all the beauty products of course! I also like to give back – so after trying and testing and when the beauty cupboard is full, I donate all the beauty goodies to Code Teen where the beauty products are distributed among raped and abused and usually underprivileged girls. I love that I can do that! What’s the most common questions girls ask you when they find out what you do? “How do I get into the industry?” What was the last beauty item you purchased? Deodorant and cotton wool. I am very privileged to be sponsored by QMS Medicosmetics, so regular facials and their fabulous skincare products keep me in check. What are your top beauty…

Confessions of a Beauty Girl – Kiss Blush and Tell

Today we catch up with the gorgeous @toritatham, Victoria Tatham of the bubbly beauty blog, Kiss Blush and Tell How did you get started in the beauty industry? I studied beauty when leaving school and worked in the industry for a few years when I lived in London – from managing a five star spa to doing make-up at London Fashion Week – I loved every bit of it, however wanted to grow in the advertising industry, so returned home to study again. I keep up my love and knowledge for beauty through my blog, where I meet great people and get to try exciting new products. What’s the best thing about your job? I absolutely love working at Ogilvy (Victoria’s day job is as an Account Executive at Ogilvy Cape Town). Being the biggest advertising agency in the world I am surrounded by incredibly creative and inspiring people and get the chance to work on really exciting brands – this means that I am constantly stimulated and challenged, which is really important to me. Kiss Blush and Tell also keeps me really busy and this satisfies my super girly side. My blog keeps me inspired and really fulfils me…

Confessions of a Beauty Girl – Lip Gloss Girl

Confessions of a Beauty Girl – Lip Gloss Girl

Today’s beauty confession is from the fun, witty and highly entertaining beauty blogger Leigh van den Berg, otherwise known as @lipglossgirl. How did you first get started in the beauty industry? I worked at Clicks ClubCard magazine for years and used to hog writing all the beauty stories. Eventually, I knew I only ever wanted to write about all things glossy and fabulous. That and score free shizz. What’s the best thing about your job? New beauty goodies landing on your desk and getting to drink champers (at launches) and play with make-up during business hours. What’s the most common questions girls ask you when they find out what you do? How do I do what you do?’ (Start a blog and promote the hellin’ out of it. If your writing is good and your content is interesting, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t do well). What was your last thing you purchased? A (crappy) cup of take-away coffee from the nasty little cafe below the office I’m currently freelancing in. Next time I’ll spring for Vida. What are your top five beauty products right now?
