Ellie Goulding x MAC Makeup Collection

Ellie Goulding x MAC Makeup Collection

I’m so excited about this new makeup collab with the stunning Ellie Goulding x MAC Cosmetics! It launched in South Africa yesterday (7/1/16) and it is an online exclusive, so if you want it, you know where to get it! I got to play with two of the products and I’m obsessed! In fact, I think this is one of my favourite MAC celeb collabs, simply because the colours are so versatile and easy to wear and even though Ellie is a blonde bombshell with fair skin and I’m a brunette with an olive complexion, these colours work wonderfully on me too!

MAC Spring/ Summer 2015 Makeup Trends

MAC Spring/ Summer 2015 Makeup Trends

For Spring/ Summer 2015, MAC have stripped down makeup, with four key looks that are all about light, luminosity and lifestyle! I was in Cape Town last week to find out more about these trends. For each look, I got to check out a demo by MAC’s leading makeup artists Michelle-Lee and Keegan, and I picked up some nifty tips and tricks along the way, that I’ll share with you in today’s scoop. FYI gals: the model images for each look, I took with my DSLR, in natural light without any Photoshopping (other than increasing the brightness). So you can really see how magnificent the makeup is! Flawless and fantastic! Re-View This look is all about lining and lashing. You’re either 100% committed to the lash – or nothing at all! Go for bold lashes by layering loads of mascara – clumpy, but beautifully done. Apply falsies in different techniques; all over the lash line, or try just the center of the lid for a different, yet striking effect. Go arty with different liquid liner techniques. Think outside the box and go bold, like perhaps exaggerated inner corners? Individual falsies in No7 (as used on the model above) were applied…

The Best Makeup Brushes For Your Face! 7 Beauty Tools You Need

The Best Makeup Brushes For Your Face! 7 Beauty Tools You Need

An artist needs his tools right? Well, I can’t live without my makeup brushes! Especially makeup brushes for my face! Sure, you can apply your foundation with your hands, but I like to use brushes, personally I like the effect they give and my hands don’t get messy. I do have a lot of favourites, and no, you don’t need all of them, but I like to use different brushes for different effects, or depending on how my skin feels on any given day. I like to mix it up and have picked out seven of my favourite foundation brushes and foundation application tools! I am often asked about the foundation brushes I feature in my photos for the blog and on instagram. You will see my favourite brand of makeup brushes for my face is Real Techniques. This is a brand of makeup brushes, developed by Beauty Guru, Samantha Chapman (one half of Pixiwoo on Youtube) and although you can’t get them in South Africa, if ever given the opportunity to get your hands on these brushes – go for it! They are great quality, and super well priced! I got my aunt who lives in the US to send me…

Meet My Travel Buddies

Meet My Travel Buddies

I get bored on a plane! Like, really, really bored! I’m worse than a kid! And I’ve learnt that I need to make sure I have enough to keep me occupied or else I get ratty! Bless the digital age, that allows us to pack only a few electronic things to ensure we are occupied for hours! Yesterday I showed you guys what beauty products I take on board. Today, I’ll show you my travel buddies – electronics and gadgets that I will, most definitely take with on my trip! iPad My iPad always goes with me whenever I travel. It’s the best invention in the world because you can do so much with it! I’ve loaded mine up with books, magazines, movies and games to keep me occupied. I love playing UNO – I can have fun with this game for hours! I also like to play around with Moodboad, creating inspiration boards. iPhone Well, my iPhone is always with me. As in always. As in it’s permanantely attached to my hand. I mostly use my iPhone on the plane to snap pics, since I have an iPad 2 – which hasn’t got the best camera, so I never use…

Quick Trick – How to make your foundation last

Quick Trick – How to make your foundation last

As it turns out, a flawless finished face doesn’t depend only on what makeup you’ve used, but also the tools that you use to apply your foundation and your application technique. My two favourite ways of applying foundation are with a flat foundation brush, like the MAC 190 or the Sigma F60 Brush, and the other with a stippling/ buffing brush like a MAC 130 or the Sigma F80, Flat Synthetic Kabuki Brush. Sometimes I even use both brushes; the flat foundation brush to apply and then the buffing brush to, well, buff and blend my foundation in! When it comes to tools, I think I’ve nailed it, but I still felt that my foundation “melted” after I applied it. Granted, I do live in Durban and it’s dang hot and humid here, so even straight after I apply my foundation, it’s so hot it feels like my foundation is melting off. That was until I discovered a new trick that I picked up from UK based Makeup Artist and Youtube Vlogger GossMakeupArtist in one of his videos. Short, sweet and to the point this trick really works! Take a look at the video and give it a try! I…

Beauty How To – GUESS Accessories Campaign

Beauty How To – GUESS Accessories Campaign

I am head-over-heels in love with the latest Guess Accessories campaign! The makeup is to-die-for and I can’t wait to try this look out, so I asked two of my favourite Durban based makeup artists, Candice Mac Nicol (@cands_mac) and Lisa Bailey (@LisaBaileyPout)  to give me their tips, tricks and product recommendations on how to get this glam old-Hollywood look! ON THE FACE Candice’s Tips Allow your natural skin and glow to shine through! The foundation is light and well-matched to the skin tone, allowing a natural glow. Using a wet cosmetic sponge, wet Beauty Blender or wet Stippling brush, apply a light to medium coverage liquid foundation on the face. Great products to use include MAC Face & Body or Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. Apply concealer only where needed (under eyes, around base of nose, any red areas). This type of look requires a natural skin tone and the final look shouldn’t be too heavy or matte. Great products to use include Bobbi Brown concealer, Clinique eye concealer or Smashbox HD concealer. If you’d like, apply a highlighting concealer under the eyes like YSL Touche Eclat. Use a flat, synthetic brush and your ring finger. Contour & Highlight using a matte…

Just Peachy! Happy Friday

Just Peachy! Happy Friday

Woohoo! It’s the weekend and this week has been an absolute scorcher in Durban! I’ve been living in shorts and vests. I’ve also been super lazy with my makeup, applying the bare minimum, but today I felt like some colour and am feeling rather peachy. I’m wearing one of the new Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colours -part of the Spring 2012 collection- called “June”. Isn’t it gorgeous? It hits our local counters later this month, but I’ll do a full blog feature on it and some other items in the collection next week, so stay tuned. I also have the perfect matchy-matchy lip to go with this colour! It’s from Revlon and it’s shade number 013 in the Matte range, called “Smoked Peach” which I layered with a peachy MAC Lipglass called “Silly Girl”. Happy Friday All images are the property of StyleScoop and may not be used without permission. Thank you

Ricky Martin flexes for us again

Ricky Martin flexes for us again

He may be gay, but you’ve got to admit, Ricky Martin is still one hot hottie and I’m glad he’s “back”. He may not be shaking his “bon-bon”, but he’s still making girls smile, this time it’s for makeup and a good cause. Ricky Martin, together with singing superstar, Nicki Minaj are the two new faces for the M·A·C Viva Glam 2012 campaign. How gorgeous is this visual, shot by David LaChapelle? Ricky and Nicky’s VIVA Glam campaign rolls out in March 2012, together with the all new MAC Viva Glam products. Remember, every cent of every product sold from MAC’s Viva Glam collection to the M·A·C AIDS Fund, helping those who are suffering with HIV and Aids.

Oh, The Prettiest Pinks

Oh, The Prettiest Pinks

I’ve really been into pretty pink lips for summer, I just can’t get enough. Here are three of my fave lippies at the moment… 1. Inglot Lip Duo – 18 Man oh man, I love Inglot! Check out this lip duo box that’s not only handbag friendly, but has two amazing colours as well. The top colour offers a nice, solid shade lippy while the container at the bottom doubles as a sparkly gloss. Just don’t let it sit in the sun, or your colours will melt into one. If you want to wear pink-ish lips that aren’t too pink, then this is the one to go for. 2. YSL Rouge Pur Couture – 26 Rose Libertin Remember when I featured the YSL Spring 2011 collection I mentioned how head over heels in love I am with this lipstick? Actually, I think it’s safe to say its my fave of the lot. The colour is very pink and yes, a little Barbie, but I love the texture and feel of it and the colour looks so summer pretty on, I love it. 3. MAC Pro Longwear in Dress it up Quite similar to the YSL shade, only a little less…
