So gals, as promised, here’s a Fragrance Friday just for you (seeing as we did one for the guys already). Lancome La Vie est Belle L’eau EDT launched in SA recently as a lighter version of the original, La Vie est Belle. L’eau EDT is a grown up (yet not old granny) floral scent that is luminous and happy. The bottle is simple and pretty; in a clear, unbranded glass with a silver mesh ribbon tied to the bottle neck. The juice, simple and pleasant. It’s joyful, inspiring, summery and ladylike. The scent is polished and pure and smells like a gorgeous spring garden with fresh magnolia blooms. It’s floral but without the sickening candy-sweet scent that is often associated with floral fragrances. La Vie est Belle L’eau opens with top notes of Almond and Magnolia Essence. Magnolia being one of the first flowers to bloom in the Spring, and also the symbol of new beginnings. Other notes that make up this light gourmand fragrance include Iris Pallida, White Flowers Absolute and Patchouli Essence. Floral scents are not my fave, but I don’t mind wearing this one. Ohhh, how I love this new Narciso Rodriquez fragrance; for her amber musc! Then again, I do love a woody, spicy and seductive scent! I’m also a fan of most of the Narciso Rodriguez fragrances. For Her Eau is still one of my all time favourites! In all his fragrances, it’s the musky signature that I love the most. It’s a deep musk that’s not damp and musty. For Her Amber Musc is a combination of his sultry musky notes, enhanced with the richness of amber and woody accords. It’s the perfect scent for winter. It has a rich, warm and indulgent aroma. If you love sweet fragrances, then get ready to take your senses to the candy shop! BonBon is the latest fragrance addition from Viktor & Rolf! Their first fragrance FlowerBomb is one of those fragrances you either love or hate, while their mens’ fragrance, SPICEBOMB is just the BOMB! I’d wear it! Back to BonBon. While Flowerbomb is sweet with a floral body, BonBon is more your candy shop indulgence! At first is goes on with a powerful sticky-sweet citrus scent, that later develops into a caramel infused body with woody base notes. It’s a great fragrance if you love sweet scents but aren’t that keen on floral notes – since BonBon only includes light floral notes in the heart. How lovely is this fragrance? Even the box design has a gorgeous golden bow, you just can’t wait to open it up! This is also my very first sniff of LANVIN and I likey a lot! LANVIN ME is the girliest fragrance, and you will want to add to your collection! It’s carefree and playful, with lots of personality and sparkle! It’s been a while since Uncle Karl has treated us to olfactory delights, but with this launch, the king of fashion-cool makes his 2014 fragrance comeback! Happy Friday! You know what Friday’s mean here at StyleScoop? Time for my fragrance of the week! This week I’d like to tell you about the new Burberry Brit Rhythm that launched in SA last month! Such a fun, “fearless” fragrance that epitomises the sensuality and spontaneity of the Burberry brand. Christopher Bailey (Chief Creative Officer at Burberry), describes it as “irreverent and free-spirited”. He goes on to say that “the Brit Rhythm woman combines powerful femininity with a rock and roll edge”. Looking at the design of the bottle, “rock and roll edge” is so fitting! Its clear contrasting textures of studs and smooth glass make the smoked pink juice inside sparkle with energy! On my first spritz, the lavender top note pops and later develops into a blackberry and citrus bite, where it lingers with woody, musky base notes. Overall, I kinda like it! It’s a little sweet and “juicy” – more fruity than candy sweet – which give this scent its energy. And, I generally love fragrances that have a Vetiver, Woody or Musky base. So for me, it’s a winner!
